About

Metals knowledge, and the sourcing to act on it

Metallic Exchange is a metals library and procurement advisory. We publish what we know about how metals are mined, made, traded and priced, and we help buyers turn that knowledge into sourcing decisions.

What we do

Three ways we work with metals

The Library

A free reference on how metals are mined, made, traded and priced: production and reserves by country, grades with their standards equivalents, recycling, and how each metal trades.

Procurement

Help finding, vetting and buying metal, from concentrate and scrap to refined metal, alloys and semi-finished product, with the paperwork and checks that protect a buyer.

How procurement works →

Consultancy

Independent advice on specifications, sourcing strategy and supply risk, for teams that want a second opinion before they commit.

How we handle information

A reference you can check

Metal markets are full of confident numbers with no source attached. We try to do the opposite.

Sourced and dated

Every figure in the library names its source and year. Production and reserve data comes from the US Geological Survey's Mineral Commodity Summaries, and each profile lists its sources at the bottom.

Estimates are labelled

Where a number is an estimate we say so (for example "2025e"), and figures are rounded the way the original source rounds them. We would rather show a range than imply false precision.

Explained, not just quoted

We explain how a price is built (the exchange price, regional premiums, treatment charges, payables) so you can read a quote, rather than publishing a price that will be out of date by the time you read it.

Corrections are welcome

If you spot an error, tell us and we will check it against the source and fix it. A reference is only useful if it can be trusted.
